HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT TRIP:

AIR TRAVEL:
-depart Boston Friday, October 6, 2006 after 6:00 a.m.
-return Monday, October 9, 2006 after 6:00 p.m.
-cost: approximately $220.00 per person round trip
ACCOMMODATIONS IN WAVELAND:
-hotel cost: approximately $60.00 per night per student
MEALS:
-breakfast: likely provided by hotel
-lunch: likely provided by volunteers or caterer
-dinner: likely purchased at local restaurant or caterer
-cost for meals: approximately $18.00 per day per person
SUPERVISION
Students (juniors and seniors unless a parent accompanies their own child) will be supervised by adults, including some parents of students attending. Wayland parents and Selectmen Michael Tichnor and Bill Whitney plan to attend this student trip.
WORK TO BE DONE IN WAVELAND:
Assist Waveland residents in making small repairs and clean up to their properties. No particular skills are required by students or adults, just a willingness to help residents of Wayland’s sister community.

ADULT TRIP:
DATES:
October 12 through October 26; adults are invited to volunteer as little as one day or as many as 14 days. It is up to you.
AIR TRAVEL:
You make own reservations, though Wayland Travel may be able to assist; air fare from Boston to New Orleans is least expensive. It is about a one-hour drive from New Orleans to Waveland. Transportation arrangements can be made if you desire.
You can rent a car, if you want, or other volunteers might be able to pick you up at the airport. We may have a large van that can shuttle people to/from Waveland to any hotel in the area, including Gulfport.

WORK TO BE DONE IN WAVELAND:
Three primary projects are set for Waveland. First, Wayland builder Peter Bachman and his crew will lead the charge in building a new home for Waveland resident Ms. Melanie Keretas. Her next door neighbor Ms. Hazel Tracey will receive a new roof and windows thanks to Peter and Wayland volunteers. Third, Waveland resident Scott Blackwell will also receive newly installed windows. If there is time, volunteers will also perform small repairs and clean up some properties. No particular skills are required, just a willingness to help residents of Wayland’s sister community.
