Wayland to Waveland’s
‘Mission to Mississippi’
Day 99 -- The Wrap

TUESDAY, JAN. 22, 2008 – WAVELAND, MA

Hi everyone,
Today was the white glove inspection day with all of us running around removing fingerprints and wiping down the floors so when our families enter their new homes they will be sparkling clean.

Four of the eight builders, Peter Bachman and his wife Annie, John Marsoobian and Scott Cummings, Ken Vona and Tom Mitchell were on hand with all of the W2W steering committee, Kathie, Pam, Tom Fay and daughter Brianna, Cliff, Lonnie and myself to reveal which house our families will be moving into.

We gathered for a dessert reception where we greeted the families, added up all the numbers of what we had consumed--thousands of nails, gallons of paint, yards of lumber, number of cabinets, number of meals consumed including the 1000 pounds of crab claws devoured, and to present their house numbers to the families.  Each builder spoke of their involvement in the project and how each one of you-- the professional tradesmen contributed your time, talent and passion to Mission to Mississippi.  All of this was captured on film to share with you at our recap celebration on March 9 (mark your calendars).  None of this project would have been possible without the workers, the builders, the volunteers and the donors.  Every family was surprised and grateful for the homes they will receive.  Each of them thank each of you for your involvement.

Every family was happy with their new address. John and Rose will live on Maple St., Destiny and the Garcia family will live on Taranto St. and Eddie and Courney, Kenny, Kendra and Kelsey Cunningham and the Bourgeois family on Combel St.  They will be good stewards of the properties, good neighbors who will take care of each other, and appreciate what you have given them.

It has not been an easy 2 years for them and with your help they will be able to move on with their lives.  Thank you from all of us involved in this project.  We hope to keep supporting Waveland in the future in whatever way is needed.  Tomorrow we will "meet the press" and then walk our families through their new homes after the ribbon cutting ceremony.  It will then take about 2 weeks for them to close on the properties and move in.  We will keep you posted on their progress.  Again, thank you for your continued support.
Cindy
