Wayland to Waveland’s
‘Mission to Mississippi’
Day 95 -- Week 14
FRIDAY, JAN. 18, 2008 – WAVELAND, MA
Hi everyone,
This being the last full week of our M2M project--it has been very busy. The electricians arrived on Tuesday at noon and byThursday morning all 8 houses were "turned on." Even the doorbells ring!
Following close behind the electricians Michelle and Meghan from Ken Vona's office scrubbed down the houses untilit was "booties only" on the floors. Today, the electricians moved to Mayor Longo's house where they installed all the light fixtures and outlet covers. this will help Tommy and his family move in hopefuly within the month. We have met and agreed to help with supplies for his house and have engaged the Seebees to perform the labor to install the floors, etc.
This afternoon we received our 8 "Certificates of Occupancy" for our homes. This is the culmination of everyones collective efforts. Each one of you played a significant part in helping the families finally move in to their new homes. Thank you.
On Tuesday evening, January 22 the families will finally find out which house is theirs. This will be followed by a press conference on Wednesday morning where the families will "unlock the door to their new home." I know this is short notice, but everyone is invited. We will be videotaping the ceremonies to share with y'all at our wrap up event. Stay tuned and hold March 9th on your calendars.
Look for pictures of the completed houses on our web site. We hope you are sharing this project iwth your family and friends. We are still a little short of our $1.6 million dollar goal, so please encourage friends to donate. Donations can be made online at: www.missiontomississippi.org or mailed to M2M c/o 41 Cochituate Road, Wayland, MA 01778.
Thank you.
Cindy
