Day 85 -- Week 13
TUESDAY, JAN. 8, 2008 – WAVELAND, MA
Well, if you've had the chance to look at our live video from Waveland before 2 of the 3 cameras were dismantled, you will see a truly exciting sight...dozens of people, about 70 in all, working with incredible energy, enthusiasm, and teamwork under the leadership of Steve Vona and Bob Marzilli.

Thirty seven Boston College students arrived en force on Friday night, and on Saturday morning they were already divided into teams and given their marching orders to rake, lay sod, and hydroseed first the houses on Combel and then the ones on Taranto and Maple. Taranto and Maple will be hydroseeded on Wednesday, and are all ready to go if only people would stop walking over the meticulous raking that the students and volunteers have done!
The interior painting is also mostly done, which was quite an acocmplishment considering the amount of Mississippi mud that was constantly being tracked into the houses every time the door opened! The vinyl floors in the bathrooms and laundry areas have been put down thanks to Peter Bachman and his crew. Shutters were installed on one of the houses on Combel yesterday.
As we begin to wrap up and put the final touches on the houses, the office trailers have all been emptied (a major feat in itself since they became the main storage areas for food, drinks, and building supplies over the last few weeks) and are ready to be removed from the sites. Wow, I'm out of breath just writing about all the activity that has gone on in Waveland during the last few days!
Once again, we can't thank the workers and volunteers enough for their commitment and hard work on this project. It is a truly awesome accomplishment.
