Wayland to Waveland’s
‘Mission to Mississippi’
Day 28 -- End Week 4
MONDAY, NOV. 12, 2007 – WAVELAND, MA
Another successful week of top notch construction ended today when enthusiastic workers from Thoughtforms, Twin Peaks, KVC, SEA Carpentry and P.E.C. completed key carpentry items on all four homes. As you visit the website, you will notice the front steps installed, along with railings on all eight homes. Once again, teamwork was the theme as craftsmen, many strangers to each other prior to this project, worked well putting the puzzle pieces together. Thank you to the great volunteers who spent the Veteran's Day Weekend with the team.
The quality of Boston’s best was noted by Waveland’s building inspector during a recent visit. He noted, “We don’t see homes of this quality down here often. You guys are doing a helluva job.”
Mission to Mississippi’s work is not unnoticed by its residents too. While visiting the hotel’s front desk, the clerk asked to buy a t-shirt. I showed some surprise by her request, since we came down to help her town. Noting my quizzical look, she commented, “You guys are just great. I really enjoy you being here.” She then wrote out a check for the t-shirt, explaining that she would buy it online, but her computer is somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico due to Katrina.
Electricians and plumbers arrive tomorrow. The project is right on schedule, thanks to the generosity of Boston’s finest craftsmen.
